Best watch rolls and travel cases
Traveling with more than one watch, or with a watch you're not wearing, calls for a roll or a hard case so crystals and polished cases don't rub against each other or anything else in your bag.
What to look for
- Hard shell if it goes in checked or crammed luggage; a soft roll for a carry-on
- Pillows that fit both small and large watches, and dividers so watches can't touch
- One slot per watch you actually take; most people travel with one to three
Will your biggest watch fit?
Check compartment depth and pillow size against your largest watch. Of the current watches we've measured, 47 are 44 mm or wider and 22 are 15 mm or thicker, mostly divers, chronographs and G-Shocks. Those need the deeper slots some boxes and cases advertise for larger watches.
The picks, cheapest first
Chosen from published specs, prices and what owners and reviewers consistently report. We haven't tested these ourselves. Prices are US list prices as of October 2026 and vary by retailer.

Worth knowing
- Travel-watch guides commonly advise keeping watches in carry-on luggage rather than checked bags, because checked luggage can be lost or mishandled. (gearpatrol.com)
- Soft pouches suit storage at home but give little protection from knocks in a carry-on; structured cases or rolls with separate compartments keep watches from hitting each other. (swisstimepieces.co.uk)
- Rolls come in two main types: soft canvas or leather rolls that pack small, and structured hard cases that protect better against impact. (t3.com)
- Strap-changing tools such as spring bar tools may need to go in checked luggage rather than in the carry-on roll. (gearpatrol.com)
