Hamilton

Hamilton is a Swiss watch brand based in Biel/Bienne with American origins. It was founded in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, in 1892, and its early reputation came from accurate railroad pocket watches. Hamilton ended US manufacturing in 1969, moving production to Switzerland; the brand was sold to SSIH in 1974 and became part of the Swatch Group through the 1984 merger of SSIH and ASUAG.

Hamilton introduced its first wristwatch in 1917 and supplied the military during World War II. In 1957 it released the Hamilton Electric 500, the first electric watch, including the asymmetrical Ventura designed by Richard Arbib and worn by Elvis Presley in Blue Hawaii. A Hamilton team led by John Bergey also developed the Pulsar, the first electronic digital watch. Hamilton also made the prop watches for Christopher Nolan's Tenet, which inspired a 2020 Khaki Navy BeLOWZERO limited edition.
