Omega

Omega is a Swiss watchmaker based in Biel/Bienne and a subsidiary of the Swatch Group. Louis Brandt founded the business in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1848; the Omega name was adopted for the company in 1903, and it became Omega SA in 1984. NASA used Omega watches on Apollo 11 in 1969, and the Speedmaster is marketed as the first watch worn on the Moon. Omega has been an official Olympic timekeeper since 1932.

The core collections are the Speedmaster chronographs and the Seamaster dive and sports watches. Since 2015 Omega has certified movements as Master Chronometers: on top of COSC certification, they pass eight METAS tests, including 0/+5 seconds per day accuracy and resistance to 15,000 gauss. Master Chronometer watches have at least 60 hours of power reserve and, with one exception, at least 100 m of water resistance.
