Typical prices by model
| Model | Rolex Service Center |
|---|---|
| Oyster Perpetual, Datejust | $700 to $1,000 |
| Submariner, GMT-Master II, Explorer | $800 to $1,100 |
| Daytona and other complications | $1,000 to $1,600 |
These are estimates for a standard overhaul. Replacing a crystal, bezel insert, crown or bracelet parts adds to the bill, and a hard-worn Submariner can come back at $1,300 or more.
What a Rolex service includes
The movement is taken apart, cleaned, inspected, and rebuilt with new oils and any worn parts such as the mainspring. The case and bracelet are cleaned and, unless you say otherwise, refinished. Gaskets and seals are replaced and the watch is pressure-tested to its depth rating. Rolex Service Centers add a two-year service guarantee.
Rolex or an independent?
- Rolex Service Center: genuine parts, factory procedures and the Rolex service guarantee. Slowest and most expensive, often six to ten weeks. The right choice while the watch is under warranty.
- Independent watchmaker: cheaper and usually faster. Ask whether they hold a Rolex parts account; without one, they may not be able to replace worn parts with genuine ones.
- Jeweler counter: often sends the watch to Rolex or to a watchmaker, adding time and a markup. Ask where the work is actually done.
