Watch Almanac

The best titanium watches

Titanium is about 40% lighter than steel, doesn't trigger nickel allergies and feels warm on the wrist. It's softer than steel and scratches more easily, which is why many brands add a hardened surface coating.

Grade 2 titanium is the common, pure form; grade 5 is an alloy that's harder and polishes better. Citizen's Super Titanium and Grand Seiko's High-Intensity Titanium are their own hardened versions.
