Zodiac
Zodiac is a brand of Swiss-made watches founded by Ariste Calame in Le Locle, Switzerland, in 1882; the Zodiac name was registered in 1908. After a bankruptcy in 1997, the brand was acquired by the US company Fossil Group in 2001. Manufacturing stayed in Bienne, Switzerland, while the brand is headquartered with Fossil in Richardson, Texas.
Zodiac's main line is the Sea Wolf, introduced in 1953 as one of the first purpose-built dive watches sold to the general public, after the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms and before the Rolex Submariner. The early-1970s Super Sea Wolf raised water resistance to 750 meters and was used by US Navy SEALs. The Aerospace GMT, released in 1960, used a two-color 24-hour bezel and a red GMT hand. Today the brand focuses mainly on dive watches built around the Sea Wolf.
