Frederique Constant
Frédérique Constant is a Swiss watchmaker based in Plan-les-Ouates, Geneva. Dutch couple Peter Stas and Aletta Stas-Bax founded it in 1988, naming it after their great-grandparents Frédérique Schreiner and Constant Stas. In 2002 the company bought Alpina, a Swiss sports-watch brand founded in 1883, and in 2016 the group was acquired by Citizen Watch of Tokyo.
The brand's first in-house movement, the Heart Beat Manufacture, began development in 2001; the company now has 33 manufacture calibres, including the hand-wound FC-910 introduced in 2004. Alongside those, it sells a mainstream line of watches powered by Sellita movements. Frédérique Constant has sponsored classic car rallies since 2004, including the Peking to Paris and the Carrera Panamericana, and it releases limited editions for each sponsorship.
